Haruhi S2 is META AS FUCK

Theory: Haruhi S2 is not supposed to be entertainment. It’s supposed to be an experiment in meta-entertainment; i.e. the show is not actually entertaining in itself, the entertainment is in trolling people who actually watch it, or just observing their reactions/impotent nerdrage. A bold move by KyoAni, moving from the tired old-style “entertainment” into the new age of social networking-based meta-entertainment, but I expected no less from these Gods of Anime!

Alternative theory: Kyoto Animation is the new Gonzo.

No seriously, it fits. Shitty animation (see: K-On!, that one series with the stupidly long name (Munto?), most episodes of Endless Eight, Lucky Star, etc etc) shitty fanservice-based/moeblob/just plain nonsense series (see: everything they ever did on their own except possibly FMP), shitty everything. Also note: Kyoto Animation was involved in producing Kiddy Grade.

KyoAni is the new gonzo no one likes them, then again I’m not an expert on that due to me avoiding key/kyoani moeblob/drama shows.

makes sense. although you might have alienated yourself from all the kyoani fags… which seems a wise move xD

alternative theory: they knew they couldn’t put up a random stunt like haruhi s1 again so they were like let’s make it a big lulz instead.

or maybe they are so hypped they don’t need to do real work anymore and still get money from the shit. *shrug* it’s strange..

If KyoAni is destined to be the new Gonzo, I guess we can be expecting a fanservice series like Strike Witches really soon.

    I disagree.

KyoAni is not the new Gonzo, it is attempting to be the new Gainax and out-troll Hideaki Anno concurrent with the release of Evangelion 2.0.

    Look at the history:
    – Started out with shitty shows pandering to moeblob fanboys (both)
    – Most successful series (singular/plural) operates on the premise of trolling and mocking the fans, openly, and still makes a lot of money (both; Gainax: NGE, Mahoromatic, FLCL, Kare Kano, Otaku no Video, etc.; KyoAni: Harusu S2, Lucky Star)
    – Each series attempts to be more successful than the last by gaining MORE fanboys and then dashing their hopes, then laughing at them (both; see above list)

Unfortunately, although Harusu S2 is a good attempt, Anno has pre-emptively won; Eva 2.0 is so different from the series that 1.0 must have been modeled so similarly for the sole purpose of making sure all the fans who see both will have an angry nerdgasm, and fap to a mental image of strangling the Gainax staff. (Arguably, this is what many Evangelion fans already do: see graph of Asuka popularity superimposed upon distribution level of End of Evangelion)

Lol. I’ll contact you when I have one ;-).

It should be obvious that I am a disgruntled Eva fanboy (disgruntled not with Anno’s trolling; disgruntled by the number of Asuka fans).

I too, wonder about those Asuka fanboys. I mean, in a world where someone as put upon and destined to lose as Shinji is labeled an emo blight on society, how the hell can anyone like a psychobitch like Asuka? Proof that in anime, the only thing you have to do is be young and have something of a figure to be loved by the fanboys.

And yes, Haruhi S2 is the ultimate in trolling technology. But that’s why I love it. X3
